NOT FOR PROFIT COMMUNITY PROJECT

This project will initially be run & maintained by a committee of people drawn from St Marnans Sports Club & Aberchirder & District Community Association. The extension will emulate the pavilion in that it will not be run for profit, making this facility a true community project, affordable to all and self sustaining. Our aim is to create paid employment positions to assist in the running and upkeep of the facility, to meet the needs of the community, our partners and the targets set by the funding bodies.

TIMESCALE

The concept of a learning & recreation centre in Aberchirder commenced in September 2006 following an initial idea to provide an All Weather Sports Facility. Discussions with funding bodies led to the project being developed further to meet many more identified needs and provide a more viable, sustainable facility for the local community. This project is now a quality product with partners in place, users identified and demand outstripping facilities, thus once completed this facility will immediately be a viable enterprise. The timing of this project will, ultimately, be dictated by funding rounds and planning department timescales. The committees aim is to have a learning & recreation centre in Aberchirder for full use by the local community as soon as absolutely possible.
